Our Story

Bugu Brewing Company was born from years of home-brewing and sharing beer with friends and family. After years of perfecting our craft we are thrilled to be able to open up our own nano-brewery in Monroe, Washington. Our name comes from the Bu:Gu ratio that represents the balance between sweetness and bitterness in a beer. At Bugu, you will find a wide variety of beers; inspired by styles from across the globe, often with an innovative twist but we always keep our focus on finding the right balance. We take pride in the fact that every single beer we make is incredibly drinkable, flavorful and will leave you wanting more.

Our beer list is dynamic! The beer we have on tap rotates to allow our brewery to be a more personal and community-based experience. Guest flavor and recipe suggestions are very welcome, there are also plans in the works to offer a custom brew service where you can work with our head brewer to craft the beer of your dreams. Bugu Brewing Company is for everyone who enjoys beer. Whether you’re a craft beer connoisseur or a total beer newbie, we’re confident there will be a beer on tap that you’ll love. Our staff is knowledgeable and passionate about beer, we love talking about brewing and beer in general to whoever will listen.

Bugu Brewing Company is owned and operated by Kipp and Bradly Strong, a local father-son brewing team. Kipp is wrapping up 28 years of serving communities in Seattle as a police officer and has been home-brewing for the last 15 years to prepare for this new stage, he also brings along prior experience in retail and restaurant management. Bradly brings with him a certificate in craft brewing from Skagit Valley College as well as an impressive amount of experience working in breweries such as San Luis Valley Brewing Company, Farmstrong Brewing Company, 210 Brewing Company and Bickerson’s Brewhouse.
